Before updating or changing devices

Keep a current device backup. In version 3, open Workspace settings and create a full backup. Save it somewhere private outside this app; JSON exports do not include photo files. Uninstalling can remove local records.

Where are my older records?

If the older on-device database is present, the Overview screen shows Open older library. ThriftFlip keeps the live original untouched and creates a checked copy before inspection. Browse the preserved inventory, sales, scans, offers, watch lists and other supported older categories there. Use Export protected older library to save the complete original database folder and its available support files.

The new workspace initially has separate totals. Choose Review records for import, confirm the original currency, and review the proposed import. Only ready records are added after your confirmation, with a recovery backup and links to their originals. Ambiguous amounts, dates, returns, duplicate barcodes and photos stay on hold for review. Scans and wish lists never become purchases automatically.

If a database is damaged, too large or unfamiliar, automatic import can be refused while its original files stay preserved. Do not uninstall the app to try to fix that. Contact support with the displayed message; do not email a private library or database without agreeing on a suitable transfer method.

What changed from version 2?

Version 3 is an offline redesign for inventory, sourcing assumptions and recorded profit. It replaces online product identification, market-price feeds and social services. It does not claim live sold-price research or guaranteed resale returns. Your original saved library remains available separately. Your app purchase includes the new workspace without another in-app payment.

Currency and calculations

A workspace uses one currency: USD, CAD, GBP, EUR or AUD. Choose it in settings before your first item. Amounts are recorded in whole cents and are never converted. Enter actual fees, shipping, supplies and other costs. Buying-tool results are estimates from your inputs; marketplace rules, shipping quotes and taxes must be checked separately. ThriftFlip is a recordkeeping tool, not accounting or tax advice.

Samples and backups

Sample mode is fictional and separate from saved inventory. Leaving the sample or fully relaunching discards its changes. A full workspace backup includes inventory, sales, attached photos and import-time original history. Independent later import-review choices have their own export controls; the complete protected older library is a separate export. Backups are not password-encrypted by ThriftFlip. Keep all private exports secure.
